Mineral is G.R.A.S.E.:
Per the new proposed FDA sunscreen regulations, only mineral sunscreen ingredients zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are G.R.A.S.E. (Generally Recognized As Safe and Effective). The 12 chemical sunscreen ingredients currently in use in the United States have insufficient data to make a positive G.R.A.S.E. determination. The FDA is requesting that additional testing be done on all 12 chemical ingredients.
Reef Safe:
Mineral sunscreen ingredients are reef-friendly. Although the only two ingredients have been banned in Hawaii and Key West are oxybenzone and octinoxate, we believe that the safest option for our earth is to choose a mineral sunscreen.
